DfAM Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I bother going?

We know that the present additive manufacturing market in New Zealand isn't taking advantage of this amazingly advanced technology. As a result, they are missing out on possibilities to compete more effectively on a national, if not international, level. Our DfAM course aims to provide some practical advice on how to design parts to get the most out of additive manufacturing.

While purchasing a 3D printer can speed up R&D and assist major advances in production design while also lowering manufacturing costs by removing some of the traditional manufacturing limitations, we believe our DfAM course is still required. This is because, while AM removes the limits imposed by traditional manufacturing constraints, it does not eliminate them entirely. Instead, it replaces them with a new set of design considerations that designers must address if they are to successfully use technology to bring value to their products. The possibilities are endless once designers realise what AM can achieve for their field of work.

Is it really worth the price?

In short, yes! the price of the course is but a small investment for the opportunity to learn from some of New Zealand's most brilliant minds in additive manufacturing. The long-term benefit of the knowledge and skills offered can add a tremendous amount of value to your company. Not only will you have access to a wealth of expertise, but you'll also have access to a variety of machines, including SLS, SLA, LCD/DLP, MJP, and DMP technologies. You won't find this variety of printers anywhere else, ensuring that you get to work with the AM technology that best suits your demands.

Do I have the right amount of experience?

The reason for keeping our classes small is so that we can personalise them to your specific needs. As a result, regardless of your level of experience, you will gain tremendous value from our speakers and practical exercises since we will match your level of knowledge.
